VVN Youth Gent, de Gentse afdeling van de jongerenafdeling van de Vereniging voor de Verenigde Naties is een vereniging door en voor geëngageerde studenten. Via deze pagina zullen we jullie op de hoogte houden van onze activiteiten en het belangrijkste VN - nieuws.
Missie
We houden ons bezig met internationale thema's die op de agenda van de VN staan, of volgens ons op de agenda van de VN zouden moeten staan. Tevens proberen we het belang van internationale samenwerking te benadrukken in al onze activiteiten, de beginselen en principes van de VN zijn daarbij een belangrijke leidraad.

Americans will have the last chance to cast their ballot on 5 November, and in the following days, we will discover the newly elected 47th U.S. president. Have you ever wondered how the election results might affect the current democratic system and what impact they might have beyond U.S. borders, when it comes to multilateral cooperation? And would you like to know more about the role of the media and public perception in the election campaign? We have the perfect event for you! On 12 November, UNYA Ghent invites two experts who will analyze the past election and look ahead to the impact of the results. 📣 Koen Vidal – U.S. expert at De Standaard, will delve into the role of media during the elections and will explore the impact of the results on the democratic system. 📣 Fiel Vanthemsche – Deputy Permanent Representative of Belgium to NATO, will share his insights on the multilateral implications of the elections. UNYA Ghent visits the Canadian embassy in Brussels!nov 12Join us for an exclusive embassy visit to the Canadian embassy in Brussels! 🗓 Date: Tuesday, November 12, 2024 🕚 Time: 11:00 AM – 14:00 PM 📍 Location: Kunstlaan 58, 1000 BRUSSEL We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive visit to the embassy of Canada in Brussels. This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with Canadian diplomacy firsthand, gain insights into Canada’s role on the global stage, and explore its priorities in areas like international trade, environmental policy and innovation. You’ll be welcomed by embassy representatives who will share perspectives on Canada’s commitment to its relationship with Belgium and the EU. This visit also includes a guided tour of the embassy facilities and an open forum for questions and networking. On top of this, the ambassador arranged an informal meeting with a group of Canadian Indigenous Peoples to learn how the Government of Canada is working to advance reconciliation and renew the relationship with Indigenous Peoples. Whether you’re interested in Canada’s policies, looking to expand your professional network or simply curious about international relations, this is an event not to be missed! UNYA & UNA Flanders visit the International Labour Organization in Brussels!okt 21🌍 Visit the ILO with UNYA & UNA! 🌍 UNYA Ghent and UNA Flanders invite you to a special visit to the International Labour Organization (ILO), a pivotal agency of the United Nations dedicated to promoting social justice and upholding internationally recognized human and labor rights. Join us at 4:00 PM in Brussels for a 45-minute presentation, followed by a dynamic Q&A session where you can gain deeper insights into the ILO's vital work. Afterwards, those interested can take advantage of being in Brussels to participate in a discussion with Peter Wollaert (UNITAR Fellow and Chair UNA Flanders) about the newly adopted "Pact for the Future" by the United Nations. 🗓 When? 21st October at 16:00 📍 Where?
