On Thursday, March 30th, UNYA Ghent welcomes you for a documentary night with ‘Nasrin’ (2020) in the spotlight. This documentary has only been screened once before here in Belgium.
With inspiring optimism, Nasrin Sotoudeh stands up for the rights of people in Iran. A secretly filmed and impressive portrait of an impressive woman and human rights activist. In the courts and on the streets, Nasrin has long fought for the rights of women, children, LGBTQ, religious minorities, journalists, artists, and those facing the death penalty. She was arrested in June 2018 and sentenced to 38 years in prison, plus 148 lashes. Even from prison, she has continued to challenge the authorities.
