Richard G. Wilkinson (University of Nottingham) is the world's most famous social epidemiologist. In 2009 Wilkinson and his wife Kate Picket wrote the bestselling book The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better. The book quickly became a standard work in research on social inequality. It was translated into 23 languages and adapted as the 2016 documentary film The Divide.
