It is our great pleasure to invite you to the next event of Hayasa Gent dedicated to the history of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. Our guest speaker will be archaeologist Dweezil Vandekerckhove, who did his PhD in Archaeology in Cardiff University (UK) with a thesis work dedicated to Cilicia: \"The Armenians in Cilicia: Fortifications and Rural settlements in the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, c.1100–1375\". He will tell you more about his discovery of 18 Armenian castles and will put it within the wider political, national and archaeological context. The discovery of these castles sheds new light on the precious and neglected history of Cilicia, which had its unique role during the times of the Crusades (11th century).
